AMD announced today that it had appointed the former Chief Marketing Officer of Dell, Colette LaForce, to helm its marketing operations and serve as a Senior Vice President.
The position of Chief Marketing Officer has been vacant since December, when former CMO Nigel Dessau left the company. It is unclear whether Mr. Dessau left AMD on his own accord, as some reports have him being laid off as part of CEO Rory Read’s executive downsizing, others fired, while others say that he left to pursue a position with Austin-based Adclaro Consulting.
According to a statement by CEO Read, part of Ms. LaForce’s responsibilities will be to accelerate the “revitalization of the AMD brand”.
